The Vaughn College men's tennis team earned their first win of the season on Thursday, April 13, against Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opponent Webb Institute. The Warriors defeated Webb Institute by a final score of 6-3. The win improves to the men's tennis team's record to 1-1 in the HVIAC and 1-2 overall.
The Warriors had major contributions from everyone on the team. Ahmed Aly (Astoria, NY), Michael Panico (Ronkonkoma, NY), Raphael Cordina (Stamford, CT) and O'Brian Williams (Hempstead, NY) were all victors in their singles matches, helping Vaughn College get out to an early lead.
Tobi Oladeji (Queens, NY) teamed up with Aly in the number one doubles position and secured the Warriors' first doubles victory. Panico and Cordina competed for the Warriors in the number two doubles position. They defeated their opponents 8-2 to secure the Warriors' triumph over Webb Institute.
The men's tennis team will return to action on Saturday, April 15, against Pratt Institute. The match is scheduled to be played at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Center at 1 p.m.
